The concept of hospital interior design

Strategies apply to construction of new hospitals and facilities. Here are my suggestions:
  1. Include physicians as a part of your planning team since the collaborative efforts between physicians and hospitals will be crucial to our success.
  2. In the future, hospitals will be paid based upon quality outcomes, so new construction should aide the healthcare team of the future by including design features that promote patient safety.
  3. If we are going to build hospitals that improve efficiency, then consider including lean techniques into the planning process, which if done correctly will result in the elimination of waste in care processes (and therefore improved efficiency). Petasnick further suggested that the design team incorporate simulation modeling into the process to further enhance the ultimate ability to study and confirm design options, as well as enhance lean initiatives.
  4. It goes without saying that technology will be more and more important in the future as hospitals become smaller and reserved for the most acutely ill patients. I envision that more healthcare services will be provided outside of the hospital setting, with care in the home and in sub-acute settings.
